We tested a variety of 12 gauge reloaded ammo at a nominal velocity of 1200 FPS using both Clean Ballistics treated and untreated plastic wads. The treated wads formed a large group of test product. Wads were treated with varying amounts of product from fully coating the entire wad to base coating the wad pedals and other parts of the wad. Patterns were fired from a range of distances using the same gun, choke and loading components. We got our best results from a light-medium Clean Ballistics coating on the wad base.

Results were similar to our rifle findings:

• Patterns were tighter.
• Velocity increased.
• Barrel was cooler.
• Barrel and action was far easier to clean (our favorite finding).
